Internships in Switzerland

  • Most positions in Switzerland depend very much on your German, French, or Italian language skills. 

  • Earn CHF 2359/month (minus deductions for room and board, social security, etc.) 

What positions are available?

Food and beverage service refers to the process of providing food and drink to guests in establishments such as restaurants, hotels, bars, cafes, and catering companies and ensuring a positive dining experience for customers. 

Responsibilities include

  • Completing daily mise-en-place and assigned tasks during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service and/or room service
  • Taking orders and serving customers
  • Preparing diverse beverages
  • Complying with all hygiene rules and cleaning duties

The front office team plays a crucial role in creating a positive guest experience and contributing to the overall success of the hospitality establishment. Please note that this type of internship requires excellent language skills. 

Responsibilities include  

  • Greeting and welcoming guests  
  • Conducting check-in and check-out procedures  
  • Managing reservations  
  • Handling guest inquiries and complaints 
  • Managing payments 
  • Maintaining guest records 

The night audit team plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the hotel during overnight hours and contributing to the overall success of the hospitality establishment. This type of internship requires strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities include 

  • Managing the night desk 
  • Closing the day's financials 
  • Checking in late arrivals and processing check-outs 
  • Cleaning public areas 
  • Assisting guests with their luggage 
  • Monitoring security 
  • Restocking  

The housekeeping team plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for guests, contributing significantly to the overall success of the hospitality establishment. Please note that this type of internship requires a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities include  

  •  Cleaning, organising and maintaining guest rooms: making beds, vacuum cleaning, cleaning bathrooms, laundry and turn down services 
  • Maintaining a pleasant ambiance by meeting tidiness and cleanliness standards throughout the facility, creating a better and safer guest environment. 

The kitchen team plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences and contributing to the overall success of the hospitality establishment. Please note that this type of internship requires strong culinary skills and a passion for food preparation.

Responsibilities include  

  • Completing daily mise-en-place and assigned tasks during breakfast, lunch, and dinner service and/or room service 
  • Preparation of a variety of dishes according to the menu (possibility to rotate or be promoted to hot kitchen) 
  • Complying with all hygiene rules and cleaning duties  

The back office team plays a crucial role in supporting the operational functions and contributing to the overall success of the hospitality establishment. Please note that this type of internship requires excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
